Para-taekwondo athletes are classified based on their impairment type and level of functioning. The classification categories for para-taekwondo athletes are as follows:

Visual Impairment
Athletes with visual impairments are classified based on their level of visual acuity and field of vision. The classifications are as follows:
- B1: Athletes who are totally blind or have light perception only.
- B2: Athletes with visual acuity of up to 2/60 and/or visual field of less than 5 degrees.
- B3: Athletes with visual acuity above 2/60 and up to 6/60 and/or visual field of more than 5 degrees and less than 20 degrees.
Physical Impairment
Athletes with physical impairments are classified based on their impairment level and functional ability. The classifications are as follows:
- Impaired Muscle Power: Athletes with a significant loss of muscle power that affects their ability to perform taekwondo techniques.
- Limb Deficiency: Athletes with a partial or total absence of bones or joints in the limbs that affects their ability to perform taekwondo techniques.
- Leg Length Difference: Athletes with a difference in leg length that affects their ability to perform taekwondo techniques.
- Short Stature: Athletes with a height of 140 cm or less due to a medical condition that affects their ability to perform taekwondo techniques.
- Hypertonia: Athletes with increased muscle tone that affects their ability to perform taekwondo techniques.
- Ataxia: Athletes with uncoordinated movements that affect their ability to perform taekwondo techniques.
- Athetosis: Athletes with involuntary movements that affect their ability to perform taekwondo techniques.
- Visual Impairment: Athletes with a visual impairment that affects their ability to perform taekwondo techniques.
Intellectual Impairment
Athletes with intellectual impairments are classified based on their level of intellectual functioning and adaptive behavior. The classifications are as follows:
- IQ Level: Athletes with an IQ of 75 or below.
- Adaptive Behavior: Athletes with limitations in adaptive behavior that affect their ability to perform taekwondo techniques.
